Confirm the forum and the practical way to participate
For a notice, public decision or local dispute, keep the complete documents and identify the organisation or tribunal named on them. If NTCAT or a court is involved, explain your role and provide the current directions. Ask what must happen next and whether attendance, documents or communication support need advance arrangements.
Plan access, travel and the first appointment
Northern Territory Legal Aid provides a starting point for legal-help information. Ask the relevant service about availability for your location and matter. If connectivity, language, transport or a safe place to speak is a concern, explain that when arranging contact so the office can discuss a realistic way to receive instructions.
Compare the first stage of work
Ask each office to price the same task: an initial appointment, review of identified documents, a response or attendance. Confirm who performs the work, what is excluded and whether outside expenses or travel are additional. If there is a formal date, give it before booking and obtain confirmation of who is responsible for the next action.
