How Australian Law Firms Are Shown

See how Law Firms qualify, match a city, appear in order and receive corrections on Talk to a Lawyer.

01 · Scope

Which Law Firms May Appear

Public lawyer searches are restricted to firms classified as law firms for this site. A Law Firm page presents published information; it does not certify that every area of law or contact detail remains current.

02 · Location

What “Lawyers in This City” Means

A city and area-of-law match must use both the selected legal area and the office city. Statewide alternatives are labelled separately and are never presented as local Law Firms. Search-index eligibility also requires enough exact-city Law Firms.

03 · Ordering

Why One Law Firm Appears First

Law Firm order may place a disclosed featured firm first, followed by firms with more published information and then by firm name. This is not an assessment of legal skill, client outcomes, value or suitability. Compare firms rather than treating the first firm as a recommendation.

04 · Commercial visibility

What Featured Law Firm Means

Featured placement means visibility, not an editorial award. It cannot purchase a favourable review, “best” label, fabricated rating or statement of specialist expertise. The same verification warnings apply to every Law Firm.

05 · Information checks

How Law Firm Information Is Checked

Checks consider firm identity, location, contact details, source quality and whether a firm page is suitable for search engines. Contact links can be withheld when identity requires review. Talk to a Lawyer does not continuously confirm capacity, fees or individual practising status.

06 · Changes

Law Firm Corrections and Removal

Law Firms and members of the public can submit factual corrections. Firm pages that cannot be substantiated may be restricted or removed from search engines. A correction request is assessed against source evidence rather than commercial visibility.

07 · Editorial separation

Guides Are Not Firm Advertising

Preparation guides are written to help readers frame questions and locate primary sources. A firm’s presence beside a guide does not mean it wrote, reviewed or endorsed that guide.

08 · Your decision

What to Verify Yourself

Check the proposed individual on the relevant official register, confirm who will do the work, ask what the first scope includes, obtain cost information and make sure the contact channel belongs to the intended office.

Law firm membership

Build your firm’s presence across 10 Australian legal directories for AU$99 per month.

General information only, not legal advice. Directory inclusion and paid membership do not constitute an endorsement. Verify firm details directly and seek advice from a qualified Australian legal practitioner. Read the disclaimer.
